Healthcare website design in London that patients trust.

Healthcare website design for London clinics, physiotherapists, therapists and health services. Clear service pages, practitioners patients can check, forms that treat health information with care, and accessibility built in from the first page rather than patched on later.

A clinic website with a CQC rating panel, a practitioner profile and a secure booking form, alongside accessibility, encrypted form and minimal data checks
OVERVIEW

Healthcare website design for London clinics and therapists.

People rarely visit a clinic website for fun. They arrive worried, often on a phone, sometimes with poor eyesight, pain or limited time. Within a minute they want to know four things: can you help with my problem, who will I see, is it NHS or private, and how do I book.

I design healthcare websites that answer those questions in that order, in plain English, on pages that are fast, accessible and properly measured. Behind the scenes, the site is set up so patient information goes where it should and nowhere else.

BUILT FOR HEALTHCARE

What a clinic website needs on day one.

Service & Condition Pages

One page per service or condition you treat, written in the words patients use, with what to expect, how long it takes and who it suits.

Practitioner Profiles

Photos, qualifications and professional registrations (HCPC, GMC or your professional body) so patients can see who they will meet and check it.

Accessible by Design

Built to WCAG 2.2 AA: readable type, strong contrast, keyboard and screen-reader support, and forms that explain their own errors.

Secure Booking & Forms

Online booking linked to your practice system, or short request forms that collect the minimum and send it somewhere secure.

CQC Rating Display

For rated CQC-registered providers, CQC's official widget placed on the homepage and every location page, so the rating shown is always current.

NHS & Private Clarity

Every service marked clearly as NHS-funded, private or both, with referral routes and self-pay prices where you publish them.

Measurement Without Health Data

GA4 and Tag Manager record that a booking or enquiry happened and which page led to it, but never what a patient typed. Ad and analytics tags are kept off form fields and confirmation pages that could reveal a condition.

THE PATIENT JOURNEY

Six steps from symptom to booked appointment.

I plan the site around this path, so no step leaves a patient guessing.

01 Search
Searches the Problem

"Physio for knee pain near me" or "CBT therapist Islington". A page written for that exact need is what ranks and what gets clicked.

02 Condition page
Reads What You Offer

Plain-English explanation, what an appointment involves, how many sessions are typical and when to see a GP instead.

03 Trust check
Checks Who They'll See

Practitioner profiles, registrations, your CQC rating where it applies, and genuine reviews, all one tap away from the service page.

04 Cost & funding
Checks NHS or Private

Whether it is NHS-funded, self-pay or covered by insurance, and what happens next in each case.

05 Booking
Books or Asks

Live availability through your booking system, or a short secure request form where triage comes first. Click-to-call for anyone who would rather talk.

06 After the visit
Comes Back Prepared

Aftercare and exercise pages you can send by link, directions and parking, and a simple way to leave a review.

Healthcare rules your website should respect

These are the points I plan around on every healthcare build. They are summaries, not the full rules, so check the current guidance from CQC, the ICO and your professional body.

  • CQC ratings. The regulations CQC enforces say that registered providers who have been given a CQC rating must display it on their website as well as at their premises. I use CQC's official rating widget so the rating shown stays current. If you are not CQC-registered, or have not been rated yet, this may not apply to you in the same way.
  • Accessibility. Sites are built to WCAG 2.2 level AA as the working standard. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which is generally understood to include their websites and online booking.
  • Health data. Information about a person's health is special category data under UK GDPR, which carries extra conditions. Forms collect only what you need, submissions travel over an encrypted connection to a secure destination, and analytics or advertising tags never receive what patients type.
  • NHS and private messaging. If you offer both, each page says clearly which applies and how referral works. The NHS logo can only be used as the NHS identity guidelines allow, so I only add it where you are entitled to use it.
  • Claims about treatment. Marketing claims on your own website fall under the CAP Code, which the ASA enforces, so statements about what a treatment achieves need evidence and should not overpromise.

The website is built to support these requirements and I flag anything that looks risky, but this is not legal or regulatory advice. Your registered manager or compliance adviser should sign off the final content.

PRICING

A fixed price agreed up front.

Most single-site clinics and practitioners fit the Starter website. Groups and deeper integrations get a fixed written quote after a free discovery call.

Multi-Clinic & Integrated

Price Quoted Fixed quote after a discovery call. For groups and complex services.
  • Everything in Starter
  • Location pages for each clinic
  • Deeper booking or practice-system integration
  • Referrer and GP information areas
  • Content migration and 301 redirects
  • Reporting by clinic and service

HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE

Consumer healthcare websites, measured at enterprise scale.

At GSK Consumer Healthcare I owned digital insights and analytics for the GB & Ireland ecommerce channel and 15+ brand websites, including Sensodyne and Voltarol. Mapping 70%+ basket abandonment led to guest checkout and a mobile-first rebuild that delivered a 20% conversion lift. That was consumer healthcare rather than a clinic, but the lesson carries over: remove friction on mobile and more people finish what they started.

HEALTHCARE SEO

Getting a London clinic found by the right patients.

A healthcare website only helps if patients find it. In London, most clinic searches are local and specific: a condition or treatment plus an area, typed on a phone. That means each service you offer deserves its own page, each clinic location needs a page of its own with accurate opening hours and directions, and every location should have a complete, well-maintained Google Business Profile. I plan those pages in the sitemap before design starts, so the structure supports local SEO in London from launch.

Health is also a topic where Google looks hard at who is behind the information. Pages that name the practitioner who wrote or reviewed them, show their registration, date their updates and link to reputable sources give both search engines and patients more reason to trust them. The same clear, well-structured answers are what AI tools such as Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT pick up and quote, which is why every condition page is built with AI search optimisation in mind.

Schema markup describes your clinic, practitioners and services in a form search engines read directly, and GA4 tracking shows which services and areas bring bookings without collecting anything a patient would not expect you to hold. If you run a private clinic or consultant practice, the private healthcare website design page covers self-pay journeys, fees and insurers in more detail.

I work remotely with clinics and health services across London, from single-practitioner physios to multi-site groups. You deal with me throughout, and you own the site and every account from day one.

FAQs

Healthcare website questions.

Cost, CQC ratings, booking, patient data, accessibility and search.

A healthcare Starter website costs from £1,999, covering a custom design, mobile-first build, SEO setup, GA4 tracking, accessible forms and CQC rating display where it applies. Pages aren't capped; the scope is confirmed in your written quote. Multi-clinic sites or deeper booking and patient-system integrations are quoted at a fixed price after a free discovery call.

If you are a CQC-registered provider and CQC has given you a rating, the rules say you must display it on your website as well as at your premises. CQC provides a free widget that keeps the displayed rating up to date, and it is built into the site. Check CQC's current guidance for your exact situation.

Yes. I connect the site to the booking system you already use, or help you choose one, so patients can see real availability and book without phoning. Where a practitioner needs to triage first, the site uses a short request form instead, and every booking is tracked in GA4 without recording health details.

It can be, if it is done carefully. Health details are special category data under UK GDPR, so forms ask only for what you need, run over an encrypted connection and send submissions somewhere secure rather than to a shared inbox. Your privacy notice should explain this, and I help you get the website side right.

Sites are built to WCAG 2.2 level AA as the working standard: readable text, strong colour contrast, full keyboard navigation, descriptive alt text, clear form labels and error messages, and pages that work with screen readers and zoom. Many patients are older or unwell, so this matters for real visitors, not just for a checklist.

Mostly through local search. Each clinic location needs its own page and a well-kept Google Business Profile, and each service or condition you treat needs a page written for how patients actually search, such as physio for back pain in Clapham. Genuine reviews, accurate details and fast mobile pages do the rest.
